Much loved Aunt

As an adult, I first met Eleanor when I was 21 and had just spent several months in India on my way to the UK from Australia. I was so relieved to be somewhere that felt a bit like home - albeit wetter and greener. And I was so happy to be in such good company. Eleanor was simply an unbeatable host - generous, kind, gracious, and fun. I really admired her also for her range of interests and the seemingly endless number of people she knew and made an effort with. She played demon patience. She watched rugby and cricket. She pronounced 'yogurt' in a very English way. She liked my girlfriend and even my friends. She always sent me a birthday card - even when my own family didn't. Really a great person and an awesome Aunt. A real loss.
